Almost one month

It has been several weeks since we last added to this site. Our schedule has been relentless preparing for the first week of school, but now that the kids are here, a more manageable schedule is emerging. Two of the highlights for these past weeks were a family boat rental on Lake Lugano and a trip to Val Verzasca, which is amazing hiking terrain about 45 minutes north of here. On Wednesday, I will take 120 class 11 kids to this same location for their class day hike. Other grades go to other equally impressive locations. This last hike was for new faculty. Here are some pictures. We shut down the boat out in the middle of the lake and swam around for a while. Abby did mention sharks, even though she knows they don't live in fresh water. The water is quite clear and even yesterday was plenty warm and great for swimming. We are amazed they dont ski and wakeboard more on the lake, because it is rarely windy and it is glassy.

  2. You mean no fresh water sharks other than the bull sharks...

    From Wikipedia:
Unlike most sharks, bull sharks tolerate fresh water and can travel far up rivers. They have even been known to travel as far up as Indiana in the Ohio River and Illinois in the Mississippi River, although there have been few recorded attacks. As a result, they are probably responsible for the majority of near-shore shark attacks, including many attacks attributed to other species.[3] However, bull sharks are not true freshwater sharks (unlike the river sharks of the genus Glyphis).
